Community Development Project Manager Apprentice
Casa Familiar is looking for a Community Development Project Manager Apprentice with a high degree of initiative, dedication, and integrity. The role is to facilitate collaborative community development projects that contribute positively to quality of life and provide innovative solutions to community needs. The candidate will have the opportunity to acquire experience overseeing project planning and research, predevelopment activities, financing, and compliance. Our goal is to turn this apprenticeship into a permanent Development Project Manager position.
The position will eventually oversee the planning and implementation of new construction & rehabilitation of development of projects including, but not limited to, affordable housing, shared civic spaces, arts & culture venues, and green areas. They will promote environmental justice and climate resiliency through the integration of urban greening, and alternative energy in development projects. They will focus on anti-displacement projects and strategies, transitional housing, rehab for small to mid-sized projects and permanent affordability strategies through a Community Land Trust model. The Community Development Project Manager Apprentice will work to weave these priorities together facilitating the creation of innovative multipurpose spaces that serve as examples of how to build community resiliency through development. The Community Development Project Manager Apprentice will assist in engaging relevant stakeholders in their process and communicates with Casa Familiar leadership and Board of Directors about the progress of their projects. Casa’s current projects are small to mid-sized with a range of 2 to 5 active projects.

Maintenance Technician I
The Maintenance Technician I is considered a lead tech whose primary role will be to assist the Maintenance Manager, and/or the Asset/Property Manager, and support the maintenance team, on a daily basis to help meet the needs of the staff, tenants, residents, and community we serve. The Maintenance Technician I will play a key role in helping implement and execute maintenance activities with the guidance of the Maintenance Manager, Property/Asset Manager, CEO, COO or any other director/officer. As the maintenance technician lead, you will provide excellent customer service and serve as a point of contact for employees, management, tenants and residents. This position requires someone with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible, organized, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, all while providing professional and courteous service at all times.
This position will troubleshoot, assess and recommend solutions to a broad range of maintenance/repair/construction issues, itemize the materials required to correct the issue, and work with the Maintenance Manager and Property/Asset Manager, as well as the facilities and maintenance team, to implement the solution(s) needed to address. This individual should also be enthusiastic about mentoring and training less-experienced staff in appropriate methods and techniques and be committed to continual growth in their own knowledge. Must be able to roll up their sleeves and support their team or any other team within the organization to complete the work assigned.

Casa Familiar is looking for a TEMPORARY Property Manager with a high degree of professionalism, and integrity. Ideally, this candidate will have experience overseeing all aspects of an organizational initiative, and overseeing the development and implantation of multiple programs within the organization. The role of a Property Manager is to oversee various properties throughout National City, Chula Vista, and San Ysidro.

Youth Center Coordinator
Environmental Justice Advocate Intern
This internship is for youth in the community, interested in assisting our organization in addressing climate change challenges confronting the community of San Ysidro. This will be accomplished by undergoing a thorough Environmental Justice curriculum and community organizing training to gain the skills and knowledge to become an Environmental Justice advocate. After completing the curriculum and training, the intern will engage in a service-learning project that focuses on examining clean energy solutions and environmental injustices facing underserved communities. It will explore issues around access to renewable energy sources in disadvantaged neighborhoods burdened by pollution and the systemic barriers these communities face in adopting these technologies and joining the renewable energy workforce.
