Writing Workshop: Border Tongues / Lenguas Fronterizas
June 13 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
This FREE workshop embraces bilingualism and the border.
What does it mean to live and work between languages, never fully held by one?
Write from the space of in-between. The space where English and Spanish meet, clash, soften, interrupt, and remake each other. Where your tongue hesitates, switches, invents. Where meaning is carried in feeling as much as in grammar.
Begin with a moment along the U.S.–Mexico border in San Diego. Maybe it is the sound of traffic near the crossing, the ocean air moving through both sides, a conversation overheard, a memory of translation, or a word that does not exist in one language but lives fully in another.
Let your writing move the way you do. Code-switch if you need to. Break rules. Use both languages. Use neither perfectly.
